The democratic primary election is being held on September 13, 2018. In preparation of this, I am doing my best to research the candidates. I’m a political noob and had to stumble around the internet to figure out what to do.
In order to find out who the candidates are, you will need to do a ballot lookup through Ballotpedia which will give you a look at your options during voting day.
As for New York, the following candidates are up for election:
New York Governor
Here is CBS‘s coverage of the debate:
Here is the complete debate:
New York Comptroller
Incumbent Thomas DiNapoli is running unchallenged and is the only candidate.
Attorney General of New York
To get a better look at each candidate, here are 2 debates:

I also found this article from arstechnica about Leecie Eve: Verizon lobbyist runs for NY AG—as the state sues FCC over net neutrality repeal
New York Lieutenant Governor
Here is a debate covered by MNN NYC:
New York State Senate District 17
I was unable to find any debates between the two candidates but found these videos instead.
CBS coverage of Simcha Felder:
Simcha Felder against Governor Andrew Cuomo:
Interview with Blake Morris
New York City Civil Court Kings
Here is some information I was able to find about these candidates:
- A New York Post article on Loren Baily-Schiffman: Brooklyn Dems back judge accused of going easy on defendants
- A Kings County Politics article on Ingrid Joseph’s background: The Hon. Ingrid Joseph: A Homegrown & Distinguished Justice Of The Courts
- Sheryl Orwel’s Cornell University profile
- Saul Cohen’s Facebook Page.
I am surprised it was so hard to find any comprehensive information on the local elections such as for the civil court judge.
Well this is all of my research. Feel free to provide any other interesting information that you think might be helpful. What are your thoughts on these candidates?
