American Kennel Club’s Meet the Breeds of 2015

This year’s American Kennel Club Meet the Breeds event was held on Valentine’s Day on Feb 14, 2015 in the middle of another snowstorm at Pier 92 of New York City. Tickets were available for sale online at $20 for the Meet the Breeds event and if you’re interested in watching the Westminister Masters Agility Championship, you can add another $15 for a total of $35 for both events.

This year, the Agility Championship and Meet the Breeds were in separate buildings. And despite the snowy weather, there were many people (with many bringing their families) lining up for the event.

Nom Nom Paleo Book Signing in NYC

2014-05-20 19.28.16 Last month, Michelle Tam from Nom Nom Paleo came to NYC for a book signing. The event was held at Hu Kitchen, which is apparently THE paleo restaurant of NYC. The event was from 7pm – 9pm and there were raffles being held periodically. The prizes were the Nom Nom Paleo doll, knee high socks, and a slow cooker. I didn’t win anything but still enjoyed the event. I got to take a picture with Michelle and tried out some gluten free, dairy free lasagna.

Michael Pollan’s “Cooked” book talk and signing

Michael Pollan came to NYC in April to promote his new book “Cooked” at the Barnes & Nobles at Union Square. For those that don’t know who he is, he is an American author of many food related books such as In Defense of Food and The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and  has been involved with many food documentaries such as King Corn [2007] and Food, Inc [2008]. He’s an advocator of eating real food (unrefined and non-processed) and is against factory farming of animals.

This was my first book talk and signing event ever and I did not know what to expect. I was surprised how many people showed up for the event. I had to stand in the standing section since the seating section was already filled up.

Game of Thrones: The Exhibition – Should you go?

Entrance to The Game of Thrones: The Exhibition in NYC

Entrance to The Game of Thrones: The Exhibition in NYC

While this post is about the Game of Thrones: The Exhibition event in New York City that took place from March 28 to April 3, 2013, the general event will most likely be the same across all locations. Fans in the Belfast area will get to a chance to view many of the props and costumes of the popular HBO show and most importantly, take a picture on the Iron Throne! The event is from June 8 – June 17, 2013.

There are two lines for getting into the exhibition, one of which is the reserved line. The regular line was extremely long and stretched down around the corner. I heard that it was a 4 hour wait (if you’re lucky). Continue reading
